One year after our foundation, we were faced with a turning point: give up or start over again.
In the fall of 2018, Mr. Volker Löffler-von Strünk decided to approach his network to build something new together.
Thus, many experts in license management came together to search for the igniting business idea in several workshops. In this circle, we three founders of SAMtoa decided to start an independent SAM consultancy for the DACH region. We wanted to do something different than our competitors:
During the search phase we got to know the company B-lay from the Netherlands. B-lay had already been working for 10 years in the way we imagined. Product range, company philosophy fit together. On top of that, the people we met there were wonderful. We decided to go under the brand “B-lay” as a German “offshoot”.
But only one year later this beautiful idea was already obsolete. Our “role model” was bought by the main competitor in Germany. We were left without a brand, without a website, without an “extended workbench”.
Giving up or letting ourselves be bought out were not options for us. We stepped on the gas.
We had to find our own name. It should describe what we do and reflect our self-image. In the Maori language we found the term TOA for a warrior who is brave, courageous, and experienced and who is highly respected as a winner and expert. This is how the name SAMtoa was born and at the same time the name of our consulting approach: the toa concept.
The ray in our logo stands for assertiveness and strength in Maori.
Thus, we found our new identity and were able to consistently implement all further steps based on it. The website was quickly created, and all existing customers were informed. Our customers trusted us even under the new name.
